Healthy Living with Chronic Pain

  • The Healthy Living with Chronic Pain Program (CPSMP) was developed by Stanford University. It is a self-management education workshop aimed at helping people deal with the ongoing issues associated with chronic pain. 

  • CPSMP workshops are small group, highly interactive workshops that meet once a week for six weeks. Mutual support and success builds participants' confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. 

  • Workshop Topics Include: 

    • Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, isolation, and poor sleep​

    • Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance

    • Appropriate use of medications

    • Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals

    • Nutrition

    • Pacing activity and rest, including the Moving Easy Program

    • How to evaluate new treatments

  • Who Should Attend?:

    • Adults with a chronic pain condition​

    • Caregivers and family members are invited to attend
